| Heartwood ranges from pinkish-brown to deep red-brown color. Grain is interlocked and produces ribbon stripes in quartered pieces. Sipo has a very poor steam bending classification. |
| Working Properties: |
| Works well with only a moderate blunting effect on tooling. A reduced cutting angle will reduce tearing the interlocked grain on quartered pieces. |
